Livingston Online® -- Livingston Committees and Boards
The spirit of volunteering is important in Livingston, and a good way to feel part of the town is to become active on one of the many advisory committees appointed by the Township Council.
All committee meetings are open to the public. Resumes are requested in the fall for appointments at the Council's organization meeting on New Year's Day. Schedules of committee meetings and information about their activities are available at:
Township Clerk's Office
357 South Livingston Avenue
Livingston, NJ 07039

Livingston Municipal Alliance Committee (LMAC)
The LMAC is a committee established to:
-- Conduct an assessment of the community's needs regarding alcohol and other drug problems
-- Identify existing efforts and services acting to reduce this problem
-- Coordinate projects within the township to avoid fragmentation and duplication
-- To develop programs to be implemented at the municipal level to prevent alcohol and other drug problems
-- Assist the municipality in fundraising for Alliance programs
The LMAC has wide representation from the community, including Township officials, schools, businesses, PTAs, police, clergy, youth, parents, service clubs and interested citizens.
Holiday Committees
There are three major holiday committees in Livingston:
-- The Memorial Day Parade Committee
-- The 4th of July Celebration Committee
-- Seasonal Holiday Decorations Committee
These three groups work very hard to continue the success
of our local seasonal celebrations. In addition to organizing these celebrations, the committees must also raise the funds to sponsor them. These activities are entirely funded by private donations.
Neighborhood Grievance Committee
Livingston has panel of specially trained mediators, who have enabled residents with a gripe (usually, but not always, against a neighbor) to resolve problems without having to resort to litigation. Applications for mediation hearings are available at:
-- Town Hall
Office of the Court Administrator
Phone: 535-7970
or
-- The Town Clerk
Town Hall

Consumer Affairs Office
The staff of Consumer Affairs Local Assistance (CALA) Officers is trained and certified by the State.
If you have a consumer problem, call 533-7976.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer CALA Officer,
contact the Townships Clerk's Office for further information.
Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment
The Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment are appointed by the Township Council. These Boards play an important role in the development of the town. Generally, the Planning Board deals with commercial development, and the Zoning Board with additions to homes, although there are exceptions at times.
